The starlette has one job, to deliver that Supercharged Wind-Up, doing massive damage.
- then figure whether you can live to do it again. You may use Powerball
to outspeed your opponent, or Toxic Smoke
to leave a DoT.
Discussion: The Starlette is what you call on when you just need to deliver a lot of damage quickly and simply. It is the ultimate glass cannon. It has no healing, no defences. You load it, charge it, shoot it. Boom. By then, it’s probably almost dead. You may be able to get a second shot off before it is killed, and you may or may not be able to Supercharge it, but you bring the Starlette for that first nuke.
After you have delivered that nuke, your possible options are
- Wind-Up twice to deliver a smaller one
- Wind-Up + Powerball + Supercharge + Wind-Up to deliver a full second round
or you may already be down to your racial, in which case you might get a little damage out of a Powerball before dying.
In many Tamer battles, a Starlette can provide a simple way to take down a huge health boss pet, and can often substitute for a pet you don’t have to execute a strategy. Three Starlettes is a good answer to some tamers and World Quests you just want to get done quickly.
Exact numbers are useful when deciding which Starlette to use: Wind-Up + Supercharge + Wind-Up delivers 2.35 times the damage in Wind-Up’s tooltip (+125% and +10% of original amount).
A H/H hits for 1565, or 732 without Supercharge.
A P/P hits for 1908, or 893 without Supercharge.
While the P/P is 20% more powerful, the H/H may live long enough to get a second round off.
Starlettes are not very effective against Elementals and Magic pets, because of their racials. Also don’t forget the 50% damage reduction of Boss pets.
In PvP, Starlettes usually lead to “head games” against pets that have avoidance. A Starlette facing a faster pet with Dodge has only one round to deliver the nuke after Supercharge is used. The Starlette can become faster by Powerballing enough times. So the Starlette tries to force the other pet to waste its Dodge, or become faster without taking enough damage to die. The P/S breed has an advantage in these situations, since its base speed is higher.
Toxic Smoke may be used in some Tamer strats where the Starlette is already faster. Explode
may be used to die deliberately in a Tamer strat, to let a Carry Pet finish with XP.

for another way to get a similar effect.
