Patch 10.0.5 is live!

PET NEWS - BY DRAGONSAFTERDARK
Patch 10.0.5 released today, and with it we get 10 new pets! Nine of these will be from the new Trading Post, and one of them is from a new Primal Storm event in the Primalist Tomorrow.

1. Pet Battle UI Fix for Hunters, Warlocks, & Death Knights

Though I couldn't find anything in the patch notes about it, I did copy over one of each of these classes and tested a pet battle with and without my addons enabled. Even with my pets summoned it appears that everything is back to normal, and your pet's action bars will no longer overlap your pet battle UI!

2. Primal Storm Pet

One Time-Lost mystery has been solved with the release of 10.0.5! When Dragonflight launched we were left with quite a long list of pets that had been datamined, and were still showing up in Blizzard's API, but were not in the journal and did not show a source. Today we can finally take one more name off that list with the Time-Lost Vorquin Foal. It will be available on the vendor Brendormi in The Primalist Future as part of the new Primal Storm event.

Zeitverlorenes Vorquinfohlen

It's quite possible this creature is aging backwards. It looks a bit younger every time you see it.

  • Family: Beast
  • Abilities: Hoof, Kick, Headbutt, Chew, Soothe, Stampede
  • Vendor: Brendormi
  • Location: The Primalist Future
  • Cost: 105 x Essence of the Storm & 1,500 Elemental Overflow

3. Trading Post Pets

The newest feature coming February 1st in Dragonflight is the Trading Post, which will offer new and returning items, mounts, and pets for the playerbase to purchase with a new currency called 'Trader's Tender'. Though only one pet was available for purchase on the PTR, the pricing will likely be similar across all the Trading Post pets. It also appears as though we'll be in for the long haul with this collecting venture, as new items only appear once a month. So strap yourselves in, and let's take a look at the new pets we'll be seeing!

Butterblume

His pink antlers make him the life of any party.

  • Family: Beast
  • Abilities: Trample, Deep Freeze, Stampede, Horn Gore, Tough n' Cuddly, Call of Winter
  • Cost: None. Reward for December 2023 Traveler's Log.

Summius

Some species of red bees are known to lead solitary lives. Still, this busy bee seems happy to make time for you.

  • Family: Flyer
  • Abilities: Barbed Stinger, Swarm of Bees, Swarm, Confusing Sting, Great Sting, Contagion Strike
  • Cost: Trader's Tender x 600

Drazka'zet der Zornerfüllte

Fooled aeons ago by the clever loa of death into a bargain of unceasing service, this tiny ancient being carries out his duties eternally red with rage.

  • Family: Undead
  • Abilities: Shadow Slash, Mummy Wrap, Gale Slash, Consume, Death and Decay, Haunt
  • Cost: Trader's Tender x 650

Egbob

Some hawkstriders are destined to be great. Others are destined to be Egbob.

  • Family: Critter
  • Abilities: Bite, Crouch, Feign Death, Peck, Aged Yolk, Nibble
  • Cost: Trader's Tender x 600

Garrlok

Ancient Gorian blood runs through Garrlok's veins. As far as anyone knows, only his diminutive stature keeps his imperial ambitions in check.

  • Family: Humanoid
  • Abilities: Punch, Stoneskin, Deflection, Face Punch, Takedown, Clobber
  • Cost: Trader's Tender x 750

Klein Maka'jin

Looks like Ben'jin and Maka'fon have kept busy since you last saw them. Maka'jin is ready for adventure but will settle for a large pile of leafy greens.

  • Family: Beast
  • Abilities: Charge, Headbutt, Lick, Crush, Bash, Rampage
  • Cost: Trader's Tender x ??

Pippin

He has a heart of gold. Literally. These shiny good-boys are all the rage with affluent gnomes everywhere.

  • Family: Mechanical
  • Abilities: Bite, Powerball, Superbark, Haywire, Reboot, Wind-Up
  • Cost: Trader's Tender x 600

Watcher of the Huntress

To its foes, this Watcher's innocent eyes belie the lethal danger of a prowling Huntress, waiting in the shadows.

  • Family: Flyer
  • Abilities: Savage Talon, Cyclone, Ethereal, Dark Talon, Call Darkness, Nocturnal Strike
  • Cost: Trader's Tender x ?

And that's it for patch 10.0.5! We'll be updating this article when/if any more pet information comes up.

We at Xu-Fu's wish you all the best in your pet collecting endeavors, and happy battling!

Personally, I wouldn't bother, at least in this case. You can just look up any of the Dragonkin Family strats.

And incidentally, three Nexus Whelplings doing The Usual take out the first three of these tamers easily. (Not the Tuskarr though - there might be some hope against the Purple Idol, but that MPD is too resistant!)

Yes, the family sections for the tamers will work just fine. ^^ Before we get the new fights in 10.0.7 we'll need to discuss how we'll have it set up, but I imagine we'll probably keep it in the same section with some additional wording & icons to let people know.

For those of you beginning to farm the 105 Essences of the Storm needed to purchase the Time-Lost Vorquin Foal here is my experience. Once you’ve unlocked the Storm Fury event (great guide on Wowhead) you will see a Storm Fury World Quest every five hours that lasts for four hours. (This sequencing is, however, anything but stable.) It appears your first completion each week will garner you 25 Essences of the Storm. Ten from what may be a weekly quest, 6 from the final boss kill, and 9 from the chest the event rewards (similar to those you get at the end of Grand Hunts or Sieges). Each subsequent event during the week rewards 9 Essences of the Storm, 6 for the boss kill and 3 for the chest. You do get Elemental Overflow from the boss kill (but only the boss kill) and I wasn’t keeping track of it because I regularly farm the other elemental storms and had more than the 1500 needed to purchase the Time-Lost Vorquin Foal. By the time you kill the boss enough to accumulate 105 Essences of the Storm you could also have enough Elemental Overflow to make the purchase. Once you complete the event it disappears from your map just like any old regular World Quest would, to then appear five hours later (maybe). Except… if you group with someone who hasn’t completed the quest you can go back in, do the event, kill the boss and get 6 Essences of the Storm for the boss kill, no chest (you’ve done the quest already). I managed to do this three times during one sequence but stopped after my eyes crossed and I accumulated enough essences to purchase the Time-Lost Vorquin Foal. %-). The foal is really really, did I say really, cute. Good luck and stay warm. (editiert)

It's looking like the Family Pet Battler of the Dragon Isles achievement progress isn't working in 10.0.5 currently - wasn't sure where to post about it, wondering if anyone else has noticed the same?

Currently, to receive credit you'll need to log out then back in. I believe it caches the wins, meaning you can do multiple and it should still count once you log out and back in. Hopefully they fix this soon. ^^'

That's how it has been working (not working) for me, do the battles, no credit, relog, the credit is there.
