Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

I used this version BUT I actually swapped to Crimson Spore and used Sting round 2. I'll keep testing it but seems to work quite well.

Goes to show you how a bad Script can ruin an otherwise good team comp. Use the script that was posted by Eekwibble. (edited)

After reading the top recommended strat with Terky has a 60-70% failure rate, I used this strat instead on multiple toons. It worked 100% in Shadowlands using Eekwibble's td script listed in the comments. (edited)

As of Pre-patch 9.0 this strat still works perfectly, if using scripts, use @Eekwibble's commented script, it's perfect so you don't waste flock on shells.

TDScript that isn't all over the place and will not use Flock against a snail with Shell Shield active:

This strat should be as Alternative 1, not Alt.2 :)

Falathiel wrote on 2017-10-23 18:59:54

Crimson Spore worked as well. Thanks for the strat!

Daedrynn wrote on 2016-10-22 19:21:51

I had trouble getting this strat to work with just "any pet" in the third slot. I found it worked best with a 25 P/P Kun-Lai Runt (1,1,1). Rampage until the last two enemies are dead. Hope that helps anyone who might be struggling.

Akasut wrote on 2016-11-03 19:04:30

Try PP Zandalari Raptors. Deadly little fellas, quite handy overall for quick work. Black Claw / Hunting party / Leap. They tend to be my cleanup crew or "go-to" solution first, for like anything pet battle related.

The backline pets are critters and flyers. Most of suggestions are excellent on critters but horrible on flyers.
If you want to be ready for both with some survivability enhancement, what about a Feline Familiar? (off the top, no min-maxing here ;p)

Kathleene wrote on 2017-10-23 12:41:51

Couldn't get it to work either. Even with a second Black Claw/Stampede-type pet. Most of the time, they just didn't live past Vinu. Gonna check out the other ones.

Far preferred this method to first one. Much shorter and consistent. After loosing by the first method several times I decided to try this and BOOM it was over.

bubba wrote on 2017-06-12 01:52:41

holy shit you're right. this definitely should be #1 strat listed. so fricken fast and reliable compared to that one with teroclaw and anub.

sadangel wrote on 2017-04-12 02:52:09

This should really be the primary strategy. It's simpler and far more reliable.

Kalaida wrote on 2017-05-12 04:15:02

Agreed.

Landee wrote on 2017-05-13 03:50:00

Very much agree, this was super easy.

Roye wrote on 2016-10-13 23:19:32

Overall concept works, but there is RNG based on the pets (I had a moth as the first backup pet that got multiple wing strikes per attack on Ikky), A backup pet with a comparable move set (I used Zandalari Anklerender 2/1/2) isn't bad insurance.

Akasut wrote on 2016-11-03 19:02:21

Agree, the RNG on 25% miss is abit meh. Any slot1 pet with 2+ dots, into Black Claw+Shattered Defenses makes quick work of Vinu. Rest is cleanup with any pet.

wrote on 2017-01-31 14:12:58

Against a moth? Chrominius, ensuring that you don't get caught into a cocoon. :P

Kayz wrote on 2016-12-14 20:45:37

I love this strat, quick and easy.

Summer wrote on 2016-12-14 15:22:35

Worked on the first go for me. Easy to follow and used a lvl 22 pet in the third slot.

Tyrsa wrote on 2016-10-13 22:34:13

This actually worked for me with an uncommon Umbrafen spore. Icky died but the spore cleaned up. I had a 23 uncommon shadow sporebat as backup with the same moves as the spore and never used it.

Tormentia-Kul Tiras wrote on 2016-10-07 05:46:31

This strat works really well. Forgot to put my safari hat on, but level 23 pet got 516 xp in addition to the charms for winning. Pretty easy fight.
