I've had Faymos#1176 fail a few times in a row so I swapped to this one (Now I use gjfLeo's).

I think it all just comes down to RNG which is why I've used this one over the other as the life exchange kind of gives you a 2nd chance IMO :p

So far, the P/P NF Dragon survives a sleep or two thanks to Life Exchange. It adds a couple of turns to the fight, but you're still going to win pretty easily.

There's some confusion with how this strat is written. Here's how I interpret it:
Turn 1: Moonfire
Turn 2: If you were slept in turn 1, Life Exchange. Else, Arcane Blast.
Turn 3: If you were slept in turn 1, Moonfire. Else, Arcane Blast.
Turn 4+: Arcane Blast until Star Tail dies.

I was thinking Arcane Blast was fine as an opener, but you're right, Moonfire makes more sense. You amplify your magic attacks and your healing; the opponent has no magic or healing! (edited)

Has worked for me before, but had a spectacular fail today - my three were dead, his 3rd pet at full health.

I use a HP Faerie dragon.

I didn't have Xufu leveled, so I tried this with a P/P nexus whelpling in his place. Since Fae dragon didn't get stunned, I basically got the second pet to the point where arcane storm would kill it, and Nexus just cleaned up what was left when he came out.

Perfect!
I couldn't figure out how to follow the instructions for the original strat ... you have to pick life exchange to start or not, before you find out if you get stunned. I substituted this for Nether Faerie Dragon's part in the fight and even though I died before I got to use Life Exchange, the fight came out perfectly with my other 2 pets still alive when it was over. Thanks, Weeps.

After a few runs through, I decided that Life Exchange is used when Moonfire is blocked in the first turn. I wrote out my interpretation in another comment above. It's worked well for me.
