High XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Thanks brother, I got mad lucky and Hydraling soloed the whole fight for me

Found a MASSIVE problem with the strategy that prevents it from working no matter the number of attempts. You MUST add a Pass in after Call Lightning or you will kill the first opponent one move too soon. That results in your Shell Armor not being available soon enough, which cascades into an very early death of the Hydraling and a complete meltdown of the entire battle. Again, if Shell Armor isn't available on move 2 against the moth you are proper fucked.

Failed without that pass 41/41 attempts, and then had an immediate success after identifying the problem. There's only one breed of Hydraling, P/B, so this isn't a breed issue. There's zero way this strategy works without the pass. (edited)

wrote on 2020-11-18 23:59:31

It is correct that the steps described do not match up with the cooldowns, but in my case it didn't make it fail. The hydraling soloed it all because Rocket was spamming Nature's ward. I used a second call lightning on Marshmallow to speed things up.

MissMochi wrote on 2020-12-03 18:46:22

What Merchron said. I just forgo'd the second shell armor, used the second Call Lightning on cooldown and ended up solo'ing the entire thing with the Hydraling.

Irix

wrote on 2021-01-11 12:45:44

Correct, adding a "Pass" after turn 2 (first enemy) makes all the difference. Failed several times before adding, passed several times after adding that pass.

thank you the pass on step 3 helped immensely :)

this was key for me too! strat just did not work at all without that one extra pass

ifloops wrote on 2022-05-04 17:09:09

Great strat. Worked first try, Hydraling solo'd everything. Honestly, how is a strat which requires an unobtainable pet, and another with a <50% winrate, ahead of this?? This should be first.

Awesome-O

wrote on 2022-01-22 06:30:06

worked on 1st try patch 9.1.5. Didn't need 3rd pet at all.. probably could have skipped Lightning Shield and went straight for Thunderbolt after switching to Spawn of G'nathus to save a few seconds

Needed my last pet to win as my spawn of G'nathus died early. So choose last pet wisely. I used an aqua with pump x 2 to finish.

Bruman#1853

wrote on 2020-10-25 13:37:03

Still works in SL pp, although second pet only had like 40hp. And with that, I got family familiar done!

Bambuskaru wrote on 2017-10-25 05:59:13

Soloed with Magical Crawdad 2,1,2. Keep Renewing Mists up, Wish on cooldown, Surge to damage.

rclpo758 wrote on 2018-11-21 11:39:29

Doesn't solo. He does well but dies when Rocket is about 2/3 health. Renewing Mists only lasts 3 rounds which limits the crabs damage and Wish has a 5 round cooldown which is too long to keep him alive forever.

rclpo758 wrote on 2018-11-21 11:49:12

It's worse than my post above. I posted that before finishing the fight with the Spawn of G'nathus and Dancing Water Skimmer. I lost. The Magical Crawdad spends so much time using Renewing Mists and Wish that Rockets Cyclone demolishes the back line pets. Combo from below worked, but it was close: Mud Jumper 1, 1, 1 Magical Crawdad 2 / 2 / 1 and Spawn of G'nathus 1/2/1

Glowsome

wrote on 2018-07-22 10:22:29

used Dancing Water Skimmer as 2nd pet ( 1 1 2 ) , rotated it in after Hydraling died, then pump , and pump again, fight done.

Chrovan wrote on 2016-12-16 14:35:10

For those who do not have the pets above, I used this strat (the first 2 Mud Jumpers can easily deal with the whole fight, if you do not have Shore Crab, just use a 3rd pet dealing heavy damage)

MUD JUMPER (1,1,1)
MUD JUMPER (1,1,1)
SHORE CRAB (2,2,2)

TURN 1: Mudslide
TURN 2: Bubble
TURN 3: Water Jet
TURN 4: Water Jet
TURN 5: Water Jet
TURN 6: Water Jet

JINX Die -> ROCKET Enter

TURN 7: Mudslide
TURN 8: Water Jet
TURN 9: Water Jet (1st Mud Jumper Die, Use 2nd Mud Jumper)
TURN 10: Bubble
TURN 11: Water Jet
TURN 12: Water Jet
TURN 13: Water Jet

ROCKET Die -> MARSHMALLOW Enter

Turn 14: Mudslide
Turn 15: Water Jet
Turn 16: Water Jet (2nd Mud Jumper Die, Use Shore Crab)
Turn 17: Whirlpool
Turn 18: Surge
Turn 19: Surge

MARSHMALLOW Die

DeboraSS wrote on 2016-12-21 13:31:29

I didn't have two Mud Jumpers, so I had to make do with just one. Since Brittle Webbing kept killing my Jumper, I used Bubble in the first round and Mudslide in the second. It was perfect, Jinx just kept using his debuff and never attacked me. I used two Striders with Pump and Cleasing Rain to finish the other two pets.

gerana wrote on 2017-02-01 21:41:35

I used a moonshell crab as the second pet (211).

Moondrely wrote on 2017-02-18 00:01:03

this worked like a charm.

Aleksandra wrote on 2017-04-23 07:35:56

A PERFECT strategy. Due to lack of 2nd Mud Jumper I used Benax as 2nd pet since it has the very same abilities as MJ, and Strand Crab (same abilities again) :)

Boba wrote on 2017-05-24 06:20:31

Worked perfectly, thank you

Mergas wrote on 2017-10-08 01:59:24

I used DeboraSS's observation, and Bubbled in the first round. My second Mud Jumper was only lvl 23, but I took the chance and used it. Instead of using it until it died, I switched it out for the Crab in turn 15. The Crab finished off Marshmallow, and my lvl 23 ended up 24! Great strat! Oh, I used an Emperor Crab - those things are mean!

Hey! I just soloed by Hydraling follow your tactic, Good job! :)

gent wrote on 2016-12-16 13:15:56

Same here I have a P/B breed that solo'd all 3.

Eira wrote on 2017-10-04 03:05:31

Hydraling almost solo'd for me as well. Just needed a couple hits from another pet to take down Marshmallow.

Emerson wrote on 2016-10-28 09:39:52

For me also this team worked:

Ghostshell Crab 1 / 2 / 2.
Magical Crawdad 2 / 2 / 1
Any Aquatic

Use whirlpool and Bubble on CD and Spirit Claws until first pet dead. Switch to Magical Crawdad with Shell Shield, Whirlpool and Surge. When dead bring in back Ghostsheell Crab and bubble Whirlpool and Spirit Claw

Railguy wrote on 2016-12-06 20:14:25

Did not work at all. Ghostshell crab nearly died from first pet, and the second pets whirlwind killed him. Magical Crawdad died right before second pet did, and my third aquatic couldnt finish off the rest.

Tsintsin wrote on 2017-02-15 10:58:00

worked like a charm for me thanks Emerson!!

Treesy wrote on 2017-05-05 02:50:49

Just curious why you wouldn't use x/1/1/ with the Ghostshell Crab? If you open with Shell Shield then Spirit Spikes Jinx literally kills itself. Afterwards I switched to an Emperor Crab with 2/1/1 who soloed the rest of the fight.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-04-23 11:56:30

emp crab solo'd all three.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-02-17 17:56:14

I used a combination of the strats mentioned here and 1-shot it. Thanks!
Mud Jumper 1, 1, 1 Magical Crawdad 2 / 2 / 1 and Spawn of G'nathus 1/2/1

Healboy wrote on 2016-10-22 15:38:18

Used alternate team as i have not leveled the two pets in OP...
Wanderer's Festival Hatchling (1,1,1) | Muckbreath (1,2,2) |Toothy (1,2,2)
Open Wanderer > Shell > Pump > Bite (until Jinx below 600) > Pump (Jinx dead) > Swap to Muckbreath
Muckbreath > Rip > Blood in the Water > Water Jet (until Rocket dead then Marshmello in) > Rip > Blood in Water (Muck died here)
Toothy > One shot one kill with Blood in water (as Marshmello is still bleeding)

Voodoou wrote on 2016-10-28 11:37:11

worked

Aeliel wrote on 2017-02-01 10:27:45

Yep, this worked for me. I didn't have Muckbreath / Toothy leveled, so I just used Snarly (identical) and a Fen Crab (1 1 2) just because it also had Rip and Blood in the Water.

MuffinManKen wrote on 2016-10-17 21:28:27

I find that using Deep Bite instead of Tail Slap on the Hydraling works much better. It does start out a little bit slower, but soon is doing more damage and it also reduces the RNG factor.

Camille wrote on 2016-12-06 06:26:45

Yes, deep bite works out much better here. Thanks for your suggestion, as I couldn't make the fight work as written, but by changing to deep bite I aced it.

gent wrote on 2016-12-23 18:57:09

As Chrovan stated below 2 mud jumpers work well but I didn't have shore crab so I went with a destruction emperor crab. After the 1st mud jumper dies switch to crab use surge until Rocket is dead.

You should be able to 1 more surge on Marshmellow. After that the 2nd mud jumper use mudslide bubble then water jet to finish him off.

I started with Fen Crab (2-2-1) - Dive, Shell, then Claw until spider dies
Swap to Magical Crawdad (2-2-1) - Whirlpool, Shell, Surge until Moth dies, continue to Surge vs Cat until Crawdad dies
At death, bring out Spawn of G'nathus (1-2-1) - Lightning shield then Thunderbolt = win

I used Shore Crab in place of Magical - i didnt even have to use Spawn :) Thx

Deep Bite is a better more consistant strategy than Tail Slap. The other benefit is tat your Hydraling can pretty much solo the first two without any problems

The problem with this strategy seems to be contingent on if you kill Jinx one turn too soon. If you do, Shell Armor isn't up at the right time and it will cripple your attempt. It was successful for me once i went into Rocket's segment with 1 round left on Shell Armor. Before that, I got wrecked twice because of that cyclone.

Didn't go quite as noted in the strategy - my Hydraling died before killing Rocket, so I had to use my third pet to clean up, and G'nathus took so much damage from Cyclone he couldn't handle Marshamallow... Fortunately, Chuck with Rip+Blood In The Water made short work of both Rocket and Marshmallow when necessary.

It could have been bad luck with Spawn of G'nathus taking some crits, but this didn't quite work as written. I needed my 3rd pet to clean up, and even then it was pretty close.

Happened to me too, I even failed at first try.

Same here, the cyclones are a bit random.

Maybe I got lucky, but my Hydraling soloed all 3 pets.

So easy that you could use a leveling pet for this because two of the enemy pets do wind up attacks and turns where they simply use debuffs.

Worked great, thank you :).

Jeack wrote on 2016-09-28 02:52:30

My puddle terror almost soloed the fight. Spawn of Gnathus was useless cause he was almost dead from tornado, but mud jump kills last pet easily.

Perfect thank you! Just got my Aquatic achievement today. :D

Natt wrote on 2016-09-28 01:05:33

I didn't have Spawn of G'nathus leveled up, so I substituted Emperor Crab instead. Shell Shield followed by Snap finished Marshmallow handily.

Just used the Hydraling. Did the job. Shield and Call lighning were quite useful for the cat ;)
