Xu-Fu's Treasure Hunt FAQ



Xu-Fu's Treasure Hunt is making a brief comeback for some server load testing :D
It will run from Jan 14 to Jan 16, starting and ending at 23:59 GMT (meaning from Friday around midnight to the end of Sunday.

This article explains everything you need to know and if not, simply ask Aranesh :-)

1. Introduction


The whole game can be summarized very easily: find treasures, win prizes!
All around the pages many strategies there are coins and other items that you can find.
They are placed on strategies like this ------>
There are many different things you can find scattered across strategies, not just coins! Magic portals, abandoned chests, Anima and more.
Whatever it is you find, hover over it with your mouse to find out what it does.

1.1 Collecting Anima


Anima is what wins you prizes. You can also your coins somewhere on any strategy. The longer your coin stash is untouched, the more Anima it generates. But be careful, others can see your stashes and grab them, so you need to protect them. Likewise, you can train warriors and attack stashes from other players. More on that is explained further below.

1.2 Prizes


Whoever has the most Anima at the end of the game wins Whomper.
Among all other players who generated Anima, a Gusting Grimoire and a Landro's Lil' XT will be raffled out. More Anima means higher chance of winning :)

2. The Treasure Vault


The central hub for this game is the Treasure Vault.
You can find it very easily in the main menu at the top.
Here, you can:

2.1 See all your Treasures


On the left side, your Coins, Anima, and Stashes are shown. Click on each of these to see more details.

2.2 Manage your warriors


Warriors are used to defend and attack stashes! In the vault you can buy new warriors, train them to increase their power level, and heal defeated warriors.
You can upgrade Warriors to 150 power level with coins or treats. Beyond that, only winning battles against other warriors of similar power level strengthen them, up to a maximum of 175 power.

2.3 Use the Magic Portal


Your vault has a built in magic portal! You can use it once every 24 hours to find something great.
It will lead you to a page with something special on it.

2.4 Check your game activity


At the bottom of the treasure page you will find a log of all your activity in the Treasure Hunt, showing the last 48 hours. Check back here if anything is unclear and you will see exactly what happened.
If there is any important updates, for example if another player attacked you or one of your stashes, those will be highlighted at the top of the vault as well for some time.


3. Anima generation


Anima is generated by your own hidden stashes of coins. Every hidden coin generates 1 Anima per hour. The more you hide, the more Anima you gain! Once you have Anima, it cannot be taken away by anyone anymore.


4. Attacking and Defending


If you come across an abandoned chest or a stash from another player, you can try to grab it! Chests are always protected by a warrior and other players can use their own warriors to defend stashes.

Each Warrior has a clearly visible power level which plays an important role in their chance of winning a battle.
When two warriors clash, the fight happens automatically with a clear winner and loser. After the attack, you will see a report of how the battle played out.

4.1 How battles work


Battles are fought in rounds. In each round, both warriors roll the dice. The "size" of the die is determined by the power level of the weaker warrior. For example, if one warrior has 50 and the other 30 power, they will both roll a 30-sided die (a D30). The lowest possible roll is a D5, even if the weaker warrior has a lower power level.

The warrior with the higher roll wins the round and attacks. Their result is subtracted from the other warriors power level.
In case of a draw, nothing happens and the round ends without any changes.

Once one of the warriors power level drops to 0 power, the fight is over. You can see a typical battle log here:



The winner of a fight will gain power depending on the initial power difference. A very strong warrior defeating a weak one will not gain much or no power at all. Same in the other direction, if you defeat a much higher warrior, yours will gain a lot of additional power.

Incorrect integer value: '' for column `b667f95_xufu`.`Game_Fights`.`User_One` at row 1 is the same message I am getting. Not showing a battle takes place and goes straight to the error message when you click attack. It doesn't even show a battle took place in the history. The only thing that shows is where you heal your pet every time because the attacker loses every time. (edited)

Same error message when I attack chests. It's clear when I have lost because of cost to heal but I don't see any evidence of winning....ie: no coin increase.

Additional info: This only applies to npc chests. Attacking player chests seems to be working as expected.

I'm also having the issue where battles with the npcs are coming up with an error, but I'm also having an issue where anima rewards that I get from the cards and anima stashes aren't actually giving me any anima.

Edit: actually, I'm not getting any anima at all. I've had my stashes out for a few hours now without changing them, and I've still gotten nothing. (edited)

Thanks! Yesterday I started putting coins in my stash that show the minute I deposited it, it helps to know when it's gonna roll over but always wonder how many times it has generated anima after it gets claimed. (edited)

Makes sense! You can also see how much Anima a stash has generated in total when you go to the stash directly and hover over it, but that's gone when the stash is stolen, yeah.

I'm new to this treasure hunt and love it. Only started yesterday (11 November) and my first warrior just reached lvl 175. I'm not sure I understand how I can get it to lvl 200? Would that also be through attacking chests? As I understand it reaching lvl 200 will not further increase your attack power over lvl 175, but just your health pool, which may help if the dice go against you.

175 is the maximum for player warriors. The NPC (website) warriors can get up to 200.

I want to suggest to have a battle pet as draw price in each covenant, like there is for anima, instead of all non-money prices going to the top contributors, as they are almost the same for all covenants. I don't feel there is anything to participate for, when I don't have time to hunt for 30000 gold.

You're right. Sadly sponsors fell through largely this year and I was struggling to divide everything so there are meaningful prices everywhere. The 3x $10 per covenant are probably not so enticing. I think I can add some TCG pets to that list :)

Like the new additions with anima :)
Got a small suggestion for a ui change. When the box shows up, showing the combat log, I feel it would make it a lot less frustrating, if the box simply disappeared if I clicked anywhere on the site, instead of having to click the small x, which is often made even smaller, as zooming out scales the entire ui down. I often have issues hitting it.

I tried to make this work but unfortunately it's not that simple :( I'm using a ready-made script to display these messages and they are supposed to be little notifications (called "growls"). Having them in the middle with a large log is not exactly what they were meant to be and so there is no functionality included that closes them when clicking anywhere else. I'm sorry :/

Suggestion for improvement, put the event box at the top of the page. On pages like the "An Awfully Big Adventure, it's a lot of scrolling on normal screen sizes/resolutions.

What I do is decrease zoom to 67% for this website while the game is going on (on a 1440p monitor). As far as I can tell that makes the box visible on all pages, including the one you mentioned.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing on my main PC, but on my laptop, I am limited to 1080 and a 15" screen, I have to zoom until it's unreadable to avoid the scroll, I just don't visit those strats while on my laptop.

I am already behind as I only started today with the game, however it seems there is no competition at all with people being able to generate 3400 anima per hour and being in the top spot of all categories with over 110000 coins donated across the covenants.

I'm sorry you feel that way. There's prices possible for everyone participating so at the least you can do some donations and gather some anima for a chance to get one of those.
For the next time I run this game I will need some kind of reduction or limitation so it can't just be grinded endlessly, but for this now I can't change that anymore.

Hey :) Fair question! I don't want to reveal what *exactly* I'm doing but can say that I'm doing checks against both typical behaviour a bot would show, and behaviour that is impossible for a human to perform. And of course I'm looking at the top players in particular.

I’ll exclude winners of the top spots from raffle prizes, that’s only fair imho. But if someone is on top spot everywhere then I would say they earned them. It’s only day 2, I‘d say it’s unlikely to be a problem in the end :)

Not really feeling it this time around. Due to ridiculously long work hours I just got behind (which seems really weird to say day 2). When I was seeing chest guarded by 175-200+ warriors on day 1, that just seems impossible to catch up to. Yeah gonna be a big ole nope for me. (edited)

Sorry to hear that. Good feedback, definitely. Need to make it clearer that 175 power is the maximum possible (and not super complicated to reach). 200 is the maximum npc warriors can have.

Every donation and anima will enter into raffles, so if you want to take a shot at those that’s very low entry requirement :)

I’ll also need to think of some kind of diminishing returns, maybe a cap of how many items you can pick up per day or such. That would make it easier to catch up

The answer is indeed no, or they would be gone very quickly. New coins and other items are being filled back into randomly selected locations constantly (every 15 min or so, I don't remember actually. it's quite regular), but only to a certain amount of total coin locations.

Do warriors die (i.e. they are lost to you) if they lose a fight vs an NPC? How about against a defending warrior of another player? If no, does anything prevent you from spamming a fight if you lose? Similarly, do warriors get wounded? If so, how long does it take to recover?

Your warriors used to attack chests or other players don't die, they get wounded and stay wounded until you heal them for coins based on their level.

I don't know about defending warriors, but I would assume it's the same.

Fights have a 10-minute cooldown between lost fights that appears to be universal (i.e. if I fight a chest and lose, then you come along two minutes later and find the chest, it will still have 8 minutes of its cooldown left before you can fight it, too).
