The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

I didn't test this many times, but all of my pets ended with more health than they started with so it seems pretty solid.

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!

I swapped the abilities around and gave the Fozling Crush, because I have wasted too many hours of my life on Sunlight strats to have every third Sunlight miss on a pet that takes weak damage from it, lol.

Keep in mind to read the Sunflower's note! You will need to do the original order on turn 4 & 5 the first time it's in to mitigate the risk of the Sunflower dying. After that, the order of Sunlight > Photo will be fine. This cuts ~40 rounds off the original based on the comments and some of the logs stating it took them 70 rounds.

Extremely slow, but it does take all the RNG out of the fight. And sometimes that's all I want. (edited)

Used Blossoming Ancient as second pet. After backline pets are dead, I used Lash and Crush to end the 3rd pet quickly.

Dgrl wrote on 2022-09-06 21:33:39

I don't have Broot, so I swapped a Sun Sproutling in for the middle pet, using Photosynthesis and Solar Beam. Still worked on first try :) Sun Sproutling did die pretty early on.

I found a team that seems to work wonders for me and I wanted to share it here with you guys.

My team:
Pet #1 Blossoming Ancient (B/B): abilities 1/2/2
Pet #2 Fozling (H/H): abilities */2/2
Pet #2 Fozling (B/B): abilities */2/2.

I used the same strategy as above , with one minor difference that speeds up the fight a bit (I'll mention it below.)

I personally have found this combination the most reliable and it has become my standard Glitterdust team despite how long the fight is!

What makes this team a bit different:

1) I chose pets with the highest health and Power combinations that I had.

2) Blossoming Ancient's 1st ability is "Poisoned Branch. I learned that you can safely throw it in on about 2 or 3 turns which helps to speed up the fight a bit.
Note on using Poisoned Branch: Throwing the ability in will throw off your rotation a bit, so be careful that you are only casting Photosynthesis when Slugger uses Burrow or you are just wasting a turn. Also, you obviously only want to do this when you have the health to spare. :D

It's a long fight, but it's smooth, easy, predictable, and wins every time! :D I just wanted to share the bit about the Poisoned Branch ability because this is such a long fight!

Thank you to Stormtruper#1364 (the OP) for this post! (edited)

My Broot died 2 times in a row, so I switched him and Singing Sunflower, as the flower has more HP and could better handle the hit on round 3-5 ish.
When I read ppl used 60 rounds I quit in round 14 and added the script. Glad I did, used 71 rounds. (edited)

I found using a Molten Corgi(1,1,1) in position #1 helped immensely. Puppies of the flame was an easy way to avoid the burrow and Superbark was great for not accidently killing Slugger. On turn one I did Puppies of the Flame then switched and got the photosynthesis up on both Broot and Singing Sunflower. Since Runehoof is a pain with his stuns, I just kept Slugger alive the entire fight by only Sunlighting when he was burrowed. I eventually killed both backline pets without ever fighting them, then finished off Slugger. (edited)

Diablasa#2274

wrote on 2021-08-03 09:54:12

I did this and worked!

you will keep Slugger alive and focus on kill backline pets, so, you will use sunlight when Slugger will burrow. so change between your healer pets and spam Photosynthesis.

Start like this:

Molten corgi: Superbark then Puppies of the flame (enemy use burrow here)
-then swap to your healing pets and buff up with Photosynthesis,
-when burrow cd is ready use Sunlight,
-then swap to Molten corgi to receive the borrow hit,
-then swap again to 1 of your healing pets to buff up with Photosynthesis and wait for burrow cd ready to use sunlight,
-then swap to the other healing pet to receive the burrow hit, then keep spamming Photosynthesis until burrow cd is ready to use sunlight
-then swap to the other healing pet to receive burrow hit and spam Photosynthesis to wait for burrow cd to use sunlight and repeat until backline pets die.
-finish Slugger with Molten corgi. (edited)

70 rounds, a restart once I figured out when the Burrows hit, and this worked. Since I don't have Broot, it was good.

Arcuballis

Yeah my Broot died very early on which broke the script, but it's a very simple formula and despite SEVERAL more crits from Slugger I managed it. Definitely didn't end up with more health than I started, though! My sunflower and blossoming ancient wouldn't have lasted much longer, but hey, you only have to do it once. :)

Detrium wrote on 2021-06-23 16:49:58

Core Hound Pup works wonders here, it can oneshot the first pet, then prime the second one with howl for another oneshot with Call Lightning (edited)

honeyblade

wrote on 2021-06-08 16:56:38

I think the 3rd pet can be anything. sunlight cooldown is 5 rounds so you can just swap between the first two pets

Lilyoptra

wrote on 2021-05-24 18:57:39

Welp, 71 rounds later, this strat works and works very well, just not very fast. Best advice, skip this family. Second best advice, if you really want to do it and have the pets for this strat, get yourself a drink, save the team and load the script (normally I never save them since they are one and done), so you can mindlessly tab thru the steps.

For me, I like to do all the families for the family achievements, not just the minimum. I do the minimum to get all the achievements and then go back and finish the rest of the families till all are done. I highly recommend the addon "Family Familiar Helper". Its great for immediately seeing your progress and what families you still need for a particular tamer for all the "Family" pet achievements. (edited)

thx for advice, I've same problem, work perfectly , 28 rounds :)

Huglover

wrote on 2021-05-24 18:31:32

I did not have the first pet, but could use my Blossoming Ancient. I had the problem too with my second pet dying... - so I looked at the health of my pets and saw that Singing Sunflower had most pet, so I put it second, and then the fight worked like a charm. Long but safe. It's only the first few facings that are a challenge, if you are met with crit or high damage, while you have not yet built up your health :)

Mortee wrote on 2021-05-16 11:40:41

So I only had Broot and a Singing Sunflower, so I added in Everburning Treant x/2/1- he won't survive the fight, but will last long enough to make it work.

It's a pain because of how long it is but if you haven't had luck elsewhere, it is a guaranteed win.

If you don't have Broot don't sweat, works fine with just Frozling and Sunflower. Good strat!

Kalnoth

Funny strat, worked 1st try. Use attack 1 when there's 1 pet left to finish the fight faster

Solitha

wrote on 2021-02-27 14:49:29

I was gonna suggest that too. Otherwise, every other Sunlight (your only damage) misses Slugger who is Burrowed, which just makes the fight longer.

Once the back line pets are dead, swap the photosynthesis and sunlight if necessary to avoid his burrow

RNG seem to be able to screw with this, if Slugger gets several early crits through, but its still a worthwhile strategy to follow

I usually hate these kinds of healing strats, but at least this one reliably works, unlike many other current family exorcist strats. 5/5

I only had 2 of the recommended pets but that was plenty to do the strat!

Finally broke down and bought the Blossoming Ancient because I was so frustrated with this achievement. 10/10 for the strat, thanks!

the only thing i'll note is that switching the order of Photosynthesis/sunlight when the first pet would dodge damage due to burrow speeds up the fight a lot. Also, once the backline pets are dead just punch the first pet until it dies.

When the 2 Background Pets are dead you can use another attack to make the fight faster. it took me 35 rounds ~ 5m 32s

Slow and simple, a delight :)

You can cut a hell of a lot of rounds off this by making Fozling's first ability Crush and just having him punch the first pet to death once the two back row ones are dead. Otherwise perfect; even getting crit my pets never came close to death.

Script to make it more tolerable :)

use(Photosynthesis:268) [!self.aura(Photosynthesis:267).exists]
use(Sunlight:404)
change(next)
