Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

This is heavily RNG dependent and long. You have to get lucky with lack of stuns and a low number of Moth Ball hits.

Any Aquatic pet with an ability strong vs. Flyer (Magic Abilities) can replace Emerald Turtle.

If Puddle Terror or Magical Crawdad dies too early, you will need to restart. I was able to complete it when only the lowest HP enemy had died. The idea is to use Sunny Day to slowly kill all enemies at the same time, while using Nature's Ward to change the type and healing abilities to keep pets at high health during the fight. Once Puddle Terror and Crawdad have a sufficient amount of bonus health, it should be smooth sailing.

Plan to have a lot of bandages as you may be retrying a whole lot! I apologize for the finickiness of this strategy.

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

TL;DR: You DO NOT HAVE TO GET AQUATIC ON THIS BLIPPIN' TRAINER!
Choosing to not read the other 18 comments, so I may be repeating, at the least, reiterating...
You do NOT have to do all element types on All the trainers!!! Read the Achievement better than I did! You only need to get 9 of the 11 trainers per element achievement. Meaning.... though I used this stat, flipped the #3 slot to just to realize only the first 2 slots really mattered. Bout 50 tries with different strategies, but this one finally worked. Got the mega achieve even though I thought I still had a few trainers to go. Should have read better & saved myself some pain :)

Not sure if things have changed with the release of Dragonflight or not but this strat was beautiful. NONE of my pets died, and I only had to try it once. My magical crawdad was at full life and my 3rd pet never got to come out to play. If you get put to sleep on the crawdad just skip the Renewing Mists and keep going on the rotation, that's what I did and I had no issues. (edited)

As an alternate point of view, I am currently on my 7th attempt with this strategy due to stuns, crits, and multiple hits. Remember kids, just because RNG worked well for you once, doesn't mean "things have changed."

riftclaw#1377

wrote on 2023-05-09 03:38:41

RNGesus was with me this one since it only took two tries; after i got both the backline pets down to about 20%, I swapped the puddle terror in to grab a heal from wish after an unlucky sleep+crit and just surge-d the last pet dead w the crawdad after it died. definitely really difficult if you don't get lucky though

Nemo2342

wrote on 2022-11-28 05:52:55

Seriously, don't use this strat. The fight is awful and heavily RNG based, so you do not want to use a strat that relies on you dodging sleep and crits and too many mothballs for 40+ rounds.

Use one of the other RNG strats (or just skip this fight entirely).

Tie

wrote on 2022-04-04 13:38:28

If at all during the first half of the fight you get stunned,., save yourself some hassle and just restart the fight. If you get the first backline pet almost dead and your crawdad is on its last legs, bring in your turtle and kill of pet 1 and 2. The 3rd pet will kill your turtle but will also die in the process. But your puddle terror will still be alive. It took me about 12 tries and the whole fight if successful is 15 to 20 min. But well worth it since it gave me my aquatic achievement.

Nimel#2874

wrote on 2022-02-15 20:12:16

Nice strategy. Got it work with this team, but at turn 6 you need to add 1 surge strike from Crawdad. This way the adversary rotation is more favorable to you. Once you manage to get two wish, the healing advantage is so high that the enemy can't kill you anymore.

The crawdad ends up dying to the bonus from flying abilities every time. Healing will not keep up with bonus damage, at all.

Puddle Terrror (P/S), Magical Crawdad (H/H), Emerald Turtle (H/H)

I must have really crappy RNG ...I've tried this fight so many times. With the right types. Not to mention the other strats for this particular PITA fight. I know i know you don't need to do ALL to get the achievement but not since that dude under the water in BFA have I had this much trouble.

IntrovertGenius

wrote on 2021-06-13 18:52:02

This is a long strategy that you will fail if you get slept once. Failed after 54 rounds. This is heavy RNG and very long.

wrendarla

wrote on 2021-01-08 18:05:21

I've used PT's abilities vs the first pet without getting sleeped or critted, then swapped to Crawdad and used Wish, but the enemy pet will always kill my Crawdad before I can cast Renewing Mists...

This is the problem I'm running into. I have tried the strat several times and every time is exactly the same.... Dead Crawdad before it can cast renewing mists. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

This is a long one... be prepared to sit there for about an hour doing this battle on repeat. It is doable and sometimes you think it's just not going to happen, but it will!

I got it around the 15th attempt. Hang in there, bring loads of bandages, watch some Netflix on the side :D

Daedrynn

wrote on 2020-12-27 00:33:23

Took me 7 attempts to beat the RNG. This fight is looooong...minimum of 45 rounds if everything goes right. I recommend the H/H Emerald Turtle because he has the largest health pool of any turtle in the game at 1969 HP, and that gets a massive boost from Sunlight, so he can't be whittled away in the background by the enemy's Cyclone. Use this hardy little critter to mop up the leftovers.

Very RNG dependant, 1 crit from Star Tail ruined this, as did Moth Dust hitting Puddle Terror. After 11 tries I couldn't get it to work and went to level a Slimy Eel! XD
